DISCOS
Tool
UPDATE: Version 4 of the
DISCOS Tool is now available for download from the Software Downloads section
The DISCOS tool is a supporting application for use with DISCOS, a generic
software specification design methodology. More information about the DISCOS
method can be found in the document 'Method definition
for dependability specification of P2P systems', but essentially the method
aims to assist the designers in developing dependable systems.
The DISCOS tool has been developed with a particular focus on P2P systems. In
particular it:
- Allows users to identify, analyse, organise and specify viewpoints,
concerns and requirements
- Allows designers to browse and select from a range of P2P logical network
architectures (as described in 'Report on the
Dependability Properties of P2P Architectures')
- Allows designers to designate the importance of a range of dependability
properties, which in turn can have an affect on the choice of logical
network architecture
- Allows designers to browse and select from a range
of P2P application reference architectures (as described in 'P2P
Reference Architectures'
- Allows designers to provide initial descriptions of
sub-systems that will make up the design
- Supports report writing by auto-generating mini reports (for example, a
requirements report)
Changes since version 3
- Traceability support has been added to multiple aspects of the tool (for
example, logical network architecture selection, etc)
- Change history has been added to Concerns and Requirements
- Report generation facility has been extended to cover all aspects of the
tool
- Cosmetic changes
The latest version of the DISCOS Tool is available for
